The topping-out ceremony for the ‘ALTO’ project in Zurich-Altstetten took place on 5 June.
The centrepiece of the project is a high-rise building 80 metres high. Between the 2nd and 24th floors, 149 flats will be let, with commercial premises and a common room on the 1st floor and catering and retail space on the ground floor.
The ceremony was held in the Stadtloggia, a hall originally used as a showroom for FIAT cars, which will in future serve as an event venue for the residents and also offer added value to the surrounding neighbourhood. A LIDL shop will open in March in the Shedhalle, which was previously directly connected to the Stadtloggia and has also been renovated. The extension work and commissioning will continue until the end of February.
The project will be certified according to the ‘SNBS Gold’ standard. The concrete ceilings were reduced to the statically required thickness, which meant that around half the usual amount of concrete could be saved. Furthermore, the glass façade is completely fitted with photovoltaic elements so that part of the energy required is produced directly on site.
The client, HIAG AG, would like to thank everyone involved in the project for their hard work and praised the high speed of the shell construction work. As the total contractor for the project, HRS would like to thank all the companies for their contribution and the client for their trust.
