The Normandie project, developed and built as a total contract by HRS Real Estate SA, has been shortlisted for the Prix de la transformation de bureaux en logements, organised by the Maison de l'architecture Île-de-France and The Foundation by PCE. Built for AXA Investment Managers Suisse SA, the project is an exemplary conversion in the heart of Geneva.
Located in Champel, the project, designed by Brauen Wälchli Architectes, involves the renovation, refurbishment and conversion of an office building into 121 modern flats, while preserving the historic structure and incorporating high standards of sustainability and energy performance (Minergie label, HPE renovation). The project also includes a contemporary extension linked by a glass footbridge, bringing the total to 181 homes - an ambitious, high-quality response to urban densification.
The nomination of this project for an international award highlights HRS's expertise in the redevelopment of built heritage, its ability to respond to the challenges of the housing shortage and its commitment to sustainable urban planning.
