Today, the city of Arbon, together with the Thurgau Department of Construction, HRS and participants in a recently concluded round table, provided information on the next steps regarding the Riva project on the site of the former Hotel Metropol. In the course of three meetings since December 2020, the participants of the discussions, including the Heritage Protection, the Preservation of Historical Monuments, the IG Pro Metropol and the IG Pro Riva, agreed on a joint declaration. According to this, the project fulfils the expectations of the participants in the talks with regard to the desired high level of building culture, is in line with the development intentions of the city and is convincing due to the planned mixed use, which also does justice to the importance of the site as a public place.

HRS bought the site in 2011 and held an architectural competition in 2012 and 2013, from which the Riva project emerged as the winner. "HRS has had an intensive relationship with Arbon for years," CEO and owner Martin Kull told the media today, and was pleased to announce good news regarding the use of the site until construction begins: "The former Metropol terrace is to be used for a modern gastronomic offering as early as this summer."
