Burstwiesenstrasse 17-21

The Burstwiesenstrasse 17–21 project in Zurich involved the comprehensive modernization and targeted expansion of an existing residential complex. As part of the renovation, three apartment buildings with a total of 36 units were updated to meet today’s standards for living comfort, safety, and functionality. In addition, the addition of a new penthouse floor using lightweight construction created six additional apartments, thereby generating valuable living space.

Particular emphasis was placed on the sustainable enhancement of the existing building structure. In addition to floor plan adjustments to optimize living quality, measures to improve seismic safety were implemented, and a new elevator system was integrated. The combination of renovation and expansion enabled a contemporary upgrade of the property and sustainably extends its lifespan.

The project was carried out while the building remained occupied, which placed high demands on planning, organization, and construction processes. As the general contractor, HRS assumed responsibility for coordinating all work and ensured compliance with the defined cost, quality, and schedule targets. The successful renovation of the residential complex has created a modern and sustainable living environment that meets the long-term needs of the residents and adds lasting value to the location.
