Coop shopping centre

At Bahnhofstrasse 43 in Huttwil, right next to the train station, a new Coop shopping center was built on the site of the former Landi. The original concept of a shopping center consisting solely of commercial spaces and stores was revised in light of changing customer behavior: The chosen mixed-use design, with retail space on the ground floor and apartments on the upper floors, ultimately benefits all stakeholders. On the ground floor, Coop has implemented a modern retail concept across approximately 900 m² of retail space, including a Coop Vitality pharmacy as well as staff, storage, and delivery areas; the basement offers approximately 100 parking spaces for customers and residents.

On the two upper floors, 32 rental apartments of various sizes were created, ranging from studios to 2.5- to 4.5-room apartments, with half of them being 2.5-room apartments. The central location right in the heart of Huttwil, as well as its immediate proximity to the train station, make the development highly attractive from a transportation perspective as well. Viktor Burri Architekten, Thun, was responsible for the architectural design.

HRS Investment AG, Frauenfeld, served as the investor and general contractor with full cost, quality, and schedule guarantees, and carried out the construction project.

With a construction volume of 29,779 m³, a lot area of 5,484 m², and a floor area of 8,310 m², the total cost amounted to approximately CHF 25 million. Construction took place from 2020 to 2021.
