Initial situation

Near Sion railway station, a new family-friendly neighbourhood was planned in the heart of the city, offering in addition to residential units: office and retail spaces, a hotel and a concert hall. Positioned as the new heart of Sion, the district serves as a link between the historic old town and the current city centre, requiring a sensitive integration into the city’s existing urban dynamics.

Planning

The projects consists of six new buildings, offering 302 residential units, 3,000 m2 office space, 2,000 m2 of commercial space, a 100-room hotel, a congress and concert hall and a car park with 625 spaces. HRS placed particular emphasis on integrating the development into the existing city structure, ensuring a family-friendly, sustainable environment with extensive green spaces and excellent connectivity to total local infrastructure.

Implementation

Beyond achieving high architectural quality, the district was designed as a long-term contribution to sustainable urban development. As much attention was given to the quality of the spaces between the buildings as to the buildings themselves. The result is a vibrant and dynamic neighbourhood, integrated into the city’s fabric and providing a comprehensive range of spaces and services.
