EPFL - Quartier de l'Innovation
Ecublens
Location for innovation
Since its creation in 1991, the Innovation Park of the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), then known as the Science Park (PSE), has been in constant evolution. At present, the campus houses around 300 laboratories and offers contemporary work and educational facilities for 4,000 researchers and 10,000 students. The Quartier de l'innovation is a place of exchange between research and industry. More than 200 resident companies and startups in the fields of information technology, healthcare, mechanical engineering, transport and telecommunications are part of the lively campus.
Flexible in usage
HRS built two laboratories and six office buildings in the Quartier de l'innovation. The latter are five-storey cubes at a length of 30 meters. Flexibility is extremely relevant in the area of innovation and startups. The rooms are flexible and the modular workstations can be adapted to suit the purpose. Encounter zones for discussions have been set up on each floor. The buildings are certified according to the Minergie standard and are all connected to the EPFL power supply. The façade consists of special glass panes, which are made of screen-printed anodised aluminium.
