Fleur du Lac
Ermatingen
An inspirational, yet challenging location
Ermatingen (TG) lies on the southern banks of Lake Untersee, near Kreuzlingen. The village is a very popular place to live thanks to its beautiful location on the lake shore. On the western edge of the village, HRS acquired a plot with lake views and developed and built four apartment blocks with 23 comfortable condominiums. The name given, Fleur du Lac, reflects the proximity to the lake and served as inspiration for the architects. New materials were skilfully integrated and ensure a smooth transition from outdoor to indoor life. Filigree railings, made of painted steel, reflect the untiring play of nature. Large window fronts allow the light of the sun, the blue of the lake and the green of the reeds to enter the living areas.
Special restrictions due to hillside location and proximity to the lake shore
Due to the relatively steep slope with a gradient of 15 per cent and the generally poor subsoil near the lake, the subsoil had to be secured with micropiles and full displacement piles. Drainage was carried out via drainage pipes and filter concrete layers. Sophisticated logistics were required to coordinate deliveries. For example, one lane of the main road above the construction perimeter had to be repeatedly closed off temporarily
Heat from natural gas
The heat supply to Fleur du Lac is provided by environmentally friendly natural gas from the municipal utility at Konstanz. In each of the four houses, there is a central heating system with one gas burner each, which supplies the apartments with thermal energy. All insulation values meet the strict Minergy standards requirements.
