Letter mail centre

The Zurich Mail Processing Center, one of Swiss Post’s most important logistics hubs, has been comprehensively modernized and upgraded to meet the demands of a highly automated mail operation. As one of Switzerland’s three REMA mail processing centers, the facility plays a central role in national mail processing and ensures the reliable sorting and distribution of millions of mail items every day.

As part of the project, the existing letter mail center was purposefully repurposed and adapted to new operational requirements. The construction work included gutting key areas of the building, structural reinforcement for the installation of a high-bay warehouse, and extensive adjustments to internal logistics and operational processes. This created the conditions for modern, efficient, and future-oriented mail processing.

The particular challenge was to carry out the complex renovation work within an existing logistics infrastructure while simultaneously meeting the highest standards for functionality, safety, and operational processes. Through precise planning and close coordination with all project stakeholders, the structural and technical measures were efficiently implemented.

HRS Real Estate AG served as the general contractor for the project and ensured its successful implementation in terms of cost, quality, and schedule. The modernization of the mail processing center has created an efficient infrastructure that meets the high demands of modern postal and logistics operations and makes an important contribution to ensuring the long-term sustainability of nationwide mail processing in Switzerland.
