Quartier de l'Étang - Block B

Just two kilometers from downtown Geneva, in the municipality of Vernier, the Quartier de l'Étang is taking shape on a former industrial, commercial, and artisanal site. Conceived as an ecosystem in its own right, the new neighborhood places central importance on green spaces: they are expected to eventually account for 55% of the total area. A total of approximately 870 apartments are being built, spread across seven interconnected development sites, each with its own designated use—ranging from a public hub with a school, daycare center, and sports facilities, to a residential hub, to an activity hub featuring commercial, administrative, and recreational offerings.

Within this framework, Block B, «Le Belvédère,» serves as the neighborhood’s striking gateway. The light-filled commercial building, with its distinctive triangular glass façade and exposed steel beams, houses commercial and administrative spaces. The property features a shopping arcade on the ground floor, seven upper floors, and a basement.

As the general contractor with a full guarantee covering costs, quality, and deadlines, HRS Real Estate SA carried out the construction project on behalf of City Gate SA, Vernier. The architectural design was handled by Atelier d’architecture Grivel & Girod SA and favre & guth sa architectes associés, both based in Geneva.

With a construction volume of 89,375 m³ and a floor area of 23,255 m², the total cost amounted to approximately CHF 37.1 million. Construction took place from March 2019 to January 2022.
