Renovation of Sunnepark Dementia Department

The Sunnepark project in Grenchen involved a targeted expansion of the existing care center, adapting it to the specific needs of people with dementia. As part of the renovation, a specialized dementia unit was created, designed to prioritize safety, orientation, and quality of life.

A central component is the new secure ward, which offers residents a safe and supportive environment. This concept is complemented by two secure garden areas that allow for outdoor activity while ensuring a high level of safety.

The existing shared rooms were converted into 16 modern single rooms that offer privacy and individual comfort. In addition, functional and comfortable areas were created, such as lounges with integrated kitchens, a nurses’ station, a nursing bathroom, a utility room, and staff changing rooms.

With the implementation of the dementia unit, an environment has been created that optimally combines care, support, and quality of life and meets the growing demands in the healthcare sector.
