Saurer WerkZwei, Baufeld F - Wohnen am Park

The new Saurer WerkZwei urban district is being developed on the former Saurer factory site in Arbon, which, at over 200,000 m², is one of the largest land development projects in Eastern Switzerland. For construction lot F, which spans approximately 12,000 m², HRS Real Estate AG held a design competition as early as 2013 under the name «Wohnen am Park» in which ten renowned architectural firms from Switzerland and abroad participated. The firm Burkhalter Sumi Architekten, Zurich, won the competition and subsequently revised its design fundamentally.

The completed «Wohnen am Park» development comprises six buildings—two with condominiums and four with rental apartments—thus offering an attractive mix of housing options for diverse target groups. The development is located in the immediate vicinity of the newly designed Freiraum West, a public park with play areas and water features, which was also developed by HRS. The project is part of the comprehensive redevelopment of the Saurer site, where, in addition to residential and commercial buildings, a hotel and structures for cultural uses are also being built.

As the general contractor with full cost, quality, and schedule guarantees, HRS Real Estate AG carried out the construction project, thereby contributing significantly to the transformation of the former industrial brownfield into a vibrant new neighborhood that combines living, working, and leisure activities in the park.
