Thalwil
The Seestrasse 117 + 119 project in Thalwil successfully achieved a challenging combination of historic preservation and modern new construction. While the historic property at Seestrasse 117 was extensively renovated and carefully adapted to today’s living standards, a high-quality residential development comprising two new apartment buildings and a total of 15 units was constructed on the adjacent lot at Seestrasse 119.
The renovation of the over 110-year-old, historically protected building required a sensitive approach to the existing structure. By renovating kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces, as well as converting the attic, the property’s historic character was preserved while creating contemporary living comfort. The new buildings complement the ensemble with a modern architectural style and blend harmoniously into the attractive hillside location above Lake Zurich.
The challenging topographical conditions placed high demands on planning and execution. Extensive specialized civil engineering work, slope stabilization, and complex structural and finishing work were crucial components of the project. HRS took on the construction management mandate and coordinated the execution of all construction work with a focus on quality, deadlines, and costs. The result is a high-quality residential complex that convincingly combines historic building fabric with contemporary architecture and creates long-term added value for the Thalwil location.
