Major step forward in the construction of the Tilia Tower

The first wooden elements, known as bipods, were recently installed. There are three of them, each weighing 9 tonnes.
These bipods play a crucial role in the tower's structure. They ensure efficient load transfer, reducing the number of pillars required underneath, and thus offering larger, more open volumes for wider, airier spaces.
As well as being functional, these BauBuche (regional beechwood) elements are also visibly integrated into the tower's architecture, adding a unique aesthetic touch and highlighting the natural beauty of the material.
This innovative approach was conceptualized by the visionary architects of the 3XN Consortium and IttenBrechbühl. The firm Dr.Lüchinger+Meyer contributed to the structural aspect, in line with the avant-garde vision of the client, Insula SA.
We would also like to thank Lausanne-based JPF Construction SA for its expertise in the construction of these state-of-the-art bipods.
HRS can't wait to see the final result, combining structural innovation and elegant design.
