A research centre with international appeal is being created on the site of the Dübendorf airfield. A combination with aviation-related uses will strengthen Switzerland's position as a centre of work and thought in international competition. Following the adoption of a cantonal design plan for the north-western part of the airfield in mid-January 2022, the canton of Zurich has now drawn up the cantonal design plan "Zurich Innovation Park with Dübendorf Research, Test and Industrial Airfield" for the south-western part. It has been open to the public since 15 December 2023 until 1 March 2024.

As the main investor, HRS played a key role in facilitating the initial planning and construction stages of development and last year secured the globally active Angst+Pfister Group as an investor, among others. Further major investors are to be brought on board over the coming years.

"The development of the site is a generational project that is of outstanding importance for the region, Zurich as a business location and beyond," said Carmen Walker Späh, Cantonal Councillor for Economic Affairs of the Canton of Zurich.
